Hi guys. I have received the sensors in good shape. They are very compact and cooool. I have a question about the datasheet's 'Insulating for high voltage (> 250 V)' part.
For instance, If I have,
A half-bridge connected to a 400V DC-Link, which means >250 V at the switch node;
I want to measure the drain-source current of both the HS and LS MOSFETs;
I place one sensor between the source of the LS MOSFET and DC-, and another sensor between the source of the HS and the switch node;
For the HS measurement, I need to use the silicone sealant; But for the LS I do not need it.
Do I understand correctly? Also, do you have any recommendations on the layout/sensor placement?
Thank you in advance!
Hi Rui,
Thanks for letting us know about the sensors.
Correct about the sealant on the high side. The sealant is to avoid creepage of charge from the pads to the connector.
On the high side of a bridge leg, we recommend measuring the drain current rather than source current, since our sensors are not fully immune to dV/dt. The dV/dt is a lot lower at the drain than on the source, i.e. on the switch node.
Please read the advice on the datasheet about layout. It is important to have a well-defined current and return current for the sensor. If you use a ground place for the return current that should be fine, and try to avoid sharp corners in the current trace in proximity of the sensor.
Hope that helps,
Kind regards,
